PVC Pipe & Fittings

PVC pipes and fittings have several advantages over conventional piping systems. Most importantly, PVC pipes can be 40 to 50 percent less expensive than pipes made from other materials and are easier to work with. Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is a polymer with good tensile strength. PVC can be extruded into pipes and pipe fittings. Working with PVC is simple; joints are made by simply applying primer and cement. The material is also very lightweight, making the transportation and handling of PVC pipes and fittings extremely cheap and easy.

PVC pipes and fittings do not rust or corrode and stand up extremely well in both hot and cold weather conditions. This durability and their mechanical strength make them the first choice for many piping systems.

PVC pipes and fittings have smooth walls and are not vulnerable to scaling issues, making them very useful for transporting water and sewage in plumbing networks. PVC pipes and fittings have lifespans of over 50 years, which is comparable to (and sometimes better than) other piping materials.

PVC fittings and pipes are remarkably resistant to UV rays, making them very useful for indoor/outdoor applications. PVC pipes are used as "pressure pipes" in a variety of applications: irrigation, industrial process lines, central air conditioning, agriculture, firefighting mains, and swimming pools. PVC is also environmentally friendly and chemical-resistant.

Due to its high chlorine content, PVC is fire retardant (unlike most other plastics). In certain cases, PVC pipes can keep building fires from spreading room-to-room and floor-to-floor. The fire resistance of PVC pipe makes it an excellent choice for use in industry as cable coverings, parting strips, ducts, tanks, and connectors. PVC is also non-conductive, providing extra safety when used in electrical applications.
