V-belts are often used for transferring power from a conveyor belt motor to a speed reducer. The speed reducer then gives power to a drive pulley. However, some systems do not have drive belts; in these cases, the conveyor belt motor is directly coupled to the speed reducer. These C-face drives do not require V-belts.
Hoffmeyer provides V-belts for a wide variety of tasks. Our 3V-8V cross section belts work well for standard jobs. For high horsepower applications, we carry Gates Super HC PowerBands® in sizes A-E. Ask us about micro V-belts for high-speed machine tools and other uses.
Hoffmeyer recommends a variety of products to improve your V-belt safety, efficiency, and performance. Gates V-belts are used in systems where multiple V-belt drives are exposed to pulsating or heavy shock loads. These dangerous conditions can make belts whip, turn over, or jump off the drive. Tie bands assure high lateral rigidity, guiding the V-belt in a straight line and preventing it from coming off of the drive pulley. Concave sidewalls provide proper cord support and full contact with the sheave groove for equal loading and uniform wear. Flex-bonded cords are strongly bonded to the body of the belt, resulting in equal load distribution and the absorption of bending stress without cord deterioration. Flex-bonded cords meet RMA oil and heat resistance standards, as well as static conductivity requirements.
